ALI Hosts Ambassador Katherine Tai and Rep. Don Beyer
ALI hosted Ambassador Tai and Congressman Beyer for a conversation discussing the geopolitical shifts that have that impacted international trade. The pandemic, Russia's invasion of the Ukraine, the decline in U.S.-China relations, climate change, and increased economic inequality have necessitated a shift in trade policy to focus on sustainability and resilience.

The Current State of the U.S.-China Relationship: ALI will host a virtual conversation with Kurt Campbell, Deputy Assistant to the President and Coordinator for the Indo-Pacific on the National Security Council, for a conversation on the current state of U.S.-China relations. Campbell has previously served in numerous government posts, including Assistant Secretary of both the State and Defense Departments.
Discussion with Freshman Members of Congress: ALI, together with Canadian Ambassador Kristin Hillman and Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher, will co-host a deep dive into the current issues in global trade policy for Freshmen members, including digital policy, environmental and labor policies, the weakening of the WTO, and the challenges posed by an ascendant China.
