The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County’s monthly Arts Around the Fire, will be held on Wednesday, March 20, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at STONEACRE BRASSERIE, 28 Washing Square, in Newport.
The Alliance’s guests will be Christine Cocca, the new Executive Director of the Jamestown Arts Center..
Cocoa’s career in the arts spans more than two decades. She has served as director of Black Goat Studios, an organization she co-founded with artist Entang Wiharso, and as executive director of Antena Projects and director of Yogyakarta Open Studios. She was appointed by the Indonesian government in 2001 to revive the historically significant Yogyakarta Biennial.
Arts Around the Fire is an opportunity for artists, writers, performers and audiences to engage with colleagues about events affecting the cultural community and learn about new ideas and good work being done. Arts Around the Fire features a cash bar, light "nosh", and an informal atmosphere where artists and art lovers can connect.

With over 17 consecutive weeks, the Newport Artists Collective announces a year long program of the Salon Series in the Library at The Brenton Hotel. Each week, we host a different artist or gallery for a small pop-up reception at The Brenton Hotel. The Salon Series is every Thursday from 5-7:00 and open to the public. As the season progresses, we will make this series the launching point for the month gallery stroll, first Thursday of every month. Please stay tuned for dates and for the website to be launched."

OVERLAP, an artist-run contemporary arts space, RI will host “Counterpoint”, a collaborative exhibition showcasing the works of Rhode Island based artists Taleen Batalian and Francoise McAree.
The show features individual pieces by each artist, in conversation and contrast with one another, across a spectrum of materials and techniques including textiles, printmaking, paper-making, sculpture, and painting.
OVERLAP is open weekly Wednesday- Friday 11am-6pm and Saturday 12-4pm.

Join us at the Guild Hall for an exciting demonstration as Mary Jameson demonstrates her work with seaweed and organic material sourced from in and around the ocean.

Mary is the owner of Saltwater Studio Art & Design in Newport, Rhode Island. In 2011 she began exploring seaweed in her art practice and had her first solo museum show at the Newport Art Museum in 2014. Her work continues to evolve through various mediums including cyanotype and eco printing often combining these processes. Spend a Saturday afternoon exploring the enchanting work of seaweed in its most expressive form.
