This week's message:
"Taming the Tongue. Pearls of Wisdom from James"

Happy Midweek Dear Church!
I pray your week is everything you had hoped it would be and that you have found a new song in your heart. Thank you to everyone who made Sunday’s worship meaningful. Our concentration on music and worship, along with the installation of our new Minister of Music, Andy Riggs, provided us all with the opportunity to search for a new song to sing in praise to God. God is up to something at the corner of Hilleary and Community Road!
This coming Sunday, we are headed back to “old camel knees” himself, James. Legend has it that James, the brother of Jesus, spent so much time on his knees in prayer that they were known to be as hard as camels. Now, I don’t know if that is true, but I do find a meaningful truth that maybe we all should be working for our own set of camel knees. As congregationalist, we do not spend much time on our knees in worship. In fact, I would venture to say, it has been many years since their folks were on their knees on a Sunday morning. Let’s face it … it is a very vulnerable position. This particular posture for prayer is likened to a total surrender to God. I would like to encourage you to find a time and place to pray on your knees. It can be a powerful experience as well as extremely humbling. It is almost as if by praying on our knees, we set up the relationship in a physical way… the idea that God is God and we are not.
This Sunday morning's scripture will be from the third chapter of James, vs. 1-12. Take a gander at it before Sunday for some down-to-earth guidelines on living the Christian life.

Don’t forget that Sunday morning, following worship we will, “Do Church”. After our time of fellowship, we will make sandwiches and gather other sack lunch items to provide for the ministry of Interfaith Community Services in Escondido. This is a great activity for your kids as well. We are looking to make 300 sandwiches, so WE NEED YOU. Until Sunday, search out the song in your heart and let ‘er rip. I love being your pastor.
Holding you close and lifting you high!
Pastor Greg

A Message from Pastor Debbie | |
Greetings to all,
Thank you so much for completing your emergency forms. If you have not done so, there are forms on the Welcome table. Please turn it into the church office or me.
Mark your calendar for the Blessing of the Animals on October 1st from 10:00 to 12:00. You can bring your little companion to get blessed; we also have gifts and a few booths.
If you know someone that would like to set up a display, let me know.
We also need someone who might want to make cut-out cookies for human treats (I have the cutouts).
Blessings,
Pastor Debbie

CONFIRM NOT CONFORM
Every Thursday starting September 8, 2022
6pm-7:30pm
One of the best things about our church is the diversity of experience and belief. We gather on Sundays, celebrating all God is doing, sometimes we get so caught up in our “Sunday experience,” that we forget that the call to discipleship is on our lives every day of the week.
Confirm-Not-Conform (CnC) is a program we will be using to ignite our passion for daily construction of who we are and what we hold dear. Folks have asked, “What exactly is CnC?” For lack of a better explanation, it is a confirmation
program for the entire church. CnC is designed for us each, to individually construct what it is we do believe, realizing that our beliefs can grow and change as we put our faith into practice.

Greetings From Outreach!
September Basket Sunday is going to be a “Do Church”!
This month we will be collecting items to create lunches for those in need at Interfaith Community Services in Escondido.
Then on September 25 we will make the sandwiches and pack the lunches together, being God’s hands for our neighbors in need.
Food is our most basic human need, yet thousands of residents in North County San Diego are food insecure. Each day at Interfaith sack lunches are distributed to people as needed and available. Interfaith distributes 300+ sack lunches daily.
We received a list to create the lunches from Interfaith. Items needed -
Soft granola bars
Applesauce
Chips
Small bottle of water or a juice box
Peanut butter and jelly
Closer to the day of packing we will need, fresh fruit such as cuties, oranges or bananas, and bread
Please help however you can. And please be there to help pack these lunches made with love.
As always thank you for supporting the outreach ministry and all of our mission. You are truly God’s hands and feet
Thank you,
Outreach Ministry
