The odds of there being a third sodden summer in a row have shortened now the Bureau of Meteorology has declared a La Niña alert. Renewed cooling in the tropical Pacific Ocean and models indicating La Niña is likely during spring and early summer have prompted the BOM to raise the El Niño Southern Oscillation Index scale to "alert", the last step before an official La Niña.

Apple warns of security flaw for iPhones, iPads and Macs
If you're an Apple user and haven't updated your software for a while, you have an urgent task to do, with Apple reporting software flaws relating to security content of iOS 15.6.1 and iPadOS15.6.1.
The software issues could potentially allow trackers to take complete control of these devices, with the company saying it's "aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited."
Security experts say users with these devices should update their software ASAP:
- iPhone6S and later
- iPad Pro (all models)
- iPad Air 2 and later
- iPad 5th generation and later
- iPad mini 4 and later
- iPod touch (7th generation)
- Mac computers with MacOS Monterey

With just two years until water-saving deadlines of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, New South Wales is at high risk of not meeting its responsibilities. A new report card by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) shows that as of the end of July, New South Wales had formally submitted one of 20 water resource plans required to set out how water is used across catchments.

Nominations are now open for the Queensland Government’s 2022 Peter Kenny Medal and Minister’s Emerging Leader Award, celebrating the passionate innovators and key influencers in Queensland’s agriculture, fisheries and forestry sector.

A 'catch up' field day in Northland is being held on 30 August, replacing the scheduled Focus Grove Project visits which were unable to be held due to COVID and flight issues in 2021.

Time running out for 2022 Olives NZ Certification – submit your oils NOW | |
Despite many Olives NZ members reporting a poor or no harvest, a good number of oils have been submitted for Certification this year. Results so far are showing excellent quality, with some high polyphenol levels and very low FFAs.
The last day for submission of oils for 2022 Certification is 31 August, so if you haven’t submitted yours yet, get cracking!
