"I Can Never Get Everything Done"
confused_female_accountant.jpg
When talking with store owners, there is the common refrain: "I have so much to do. I start my day thinking I will get this done, that done, and and make a major impact on my backlog, and by the end of the day, I've barely made a dent. "Sound familiar?
I think this approach can lead to early burn out. If every day, you feel stress, and little sense of accomplishment, you will eventually get tired of your job.
Try another approach. Pick just one small thing a day that you want to accomplish (For instance, my goal for today is to write a few newsletters. Everything else I get done is great, but my only goal is the newsletters). Once I finish these, I have a sense of accomplishment.
While I love "getting everything done", I know that happens about once a year. Instead of focusing on what I didn't get done, I try to focus on what I did get done. It certainly helps me appreciate my great job.
