Last Mile Federal Funding Account
Welcome to the California Public Utilities Commission Last Mile Federal Funding Account email list! We are excited to bring you news, updates, and information on funding opportunities for this program.
The program will award $2 billion in grants for last mile broadband infrastructure.

Organizations are encouraged to apply, including local governments, non-profits, and tribal entities. For a full list of who is eligible, and program rules and guidelines, please review Appendix A of the California Public Utilities Commission's Decision 22-04-055.

Stay tuned for upcoming details at the Last Mile Federal Funding Account, where the California Public Utilities Commission will release the priority areas for last mile funding.
  • Priority areas and digital equity information will be shown on a public map and potential applicants can register to access more detailed information.
  • The registered users map will show available funding areas, unserved locations, business case information, and other information.

The California Public Utilities Commission held a Last Mile Federal Funding Account webinar on June 1, 2022, that introduced the program and highlighted the substantial funding opportunities which will be available later this year to local governments, non-profits, and tribes. Open-Access Statewide Middle Mile Network
California will build an open-access statewide middle mile network, authorized by Senate Bill 156, to bring equitable high-speed broadband service to all Californians. The California Department of Technology is leading this effort.

The California Public Utilities Commission has provided middle-mile locations and analysis to the California Department of Technology. You may learn more here.
