New commission will sponsor two clergy who will attend suicide training | |

Ministering to Those Impacted by Suicide
by the Berkeley Divinity School
The diocesan mental health commission, Reclaiming Hope, will sponsor two scholarships for clergy to attend this training. Please email the Rev. Charlotte LaForest to apply.
About the training:
"Many in ministry feel in over their heads when called upon to respond to any suicide-related crisis, whether acute or chronic. This training will take a deep dive into the topic; it will increase awareness of the impacts of suicide, teach practical tools for responding appropriately and sufficiently in times of suicidal need, and expand the thinking of leaders about how churches and organizations can proactively address the hopelessness and isolation that contribute to suicidality."

The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine
"A powerful account, by Israeli peace activist Miko Peled, of his transformation from a young man who'd grown up in the heart of Israel's elite and served proudly in its military into a fearless advocate of nonviolent struggle and equal rights for all Palestinians and Israelis. His journey is mirrored in many ways the transformation his father, a much-decorated Israeli general, had undergone three decades earlier. Alice Walker contributed a foreword to the first edition in which she wrote, 'There are few books on the Israel/Palestine issue that seem as hopeful to me as this one.' In the new Epilogue he takes readers to South Africa, East Asia, several European countries, and the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel itself.
The book discussion will be facilitated by Max Sklar. Max Sklar attended Berkeley Divinity School at Yale (MDiv ‘23). He is a transitional Deacon in the Episcopal Church with the Diocese of Massachusetts and will be ordained a priest on February 10. Since the summer of this year, Max has been living & working with a Palestinian Christian community in Ramallah through The Episcopal Church Office of Global Partnerships. He was residing in Ramallah on October 7th and remained there until he was evacuated back to the USA at the end of the month.
This book discussion is open to all in Province I (New England dioceses.)"

The Creation Care Justice Network in Massachusetts is a group of Episcopalians from across our state who are committed to faith-based environmental justice and climate action. They draw upon the strong environmental messages from our bishops and The Episcopal Church as well as our diocesan mission to protect creation and seek ways to work collaboratively to address the climate crisis in a just and equitable way.
