LAMBDA NEXTGEN HAPPY HOUR

You know what’s inspiring?

Hanging with a group of Young LGBTQ+ Professionals!

We had a super time at Chamber Member KIKI Houston, our host for the first LAMBDA NextGen event of 2024. There are a lot of great things planned for this organization this year. If you are not already a part, join us! LAMBDA NextGen is a young professionals networking group, ages 21-40, focused on building and connect a thriving LGBTQ+ Young Professional’s network.

RIBBON CUTTING AT ELATION PT

It was great to partner with the Fulshear Katy Area Chamber of Commerce to host a joint ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of Elation PT’s new location on FM 1463 in Katy. We extend a big congratulations to Christina King, Physical Therapist and Owner of Elation Physical Therapy Katy/Richmond/Fulshear! We know there are great things ahead for you and your team. Thank you for your work and for being a safe place for our community to receive the care they need!

3RD THURSDAY BREAKFAST COMMUNITY & CONNECTIONS

Our 3rd Thursday Breakfast is such a great opportunity to meet fellow business owners and community members - and hear from special guest speakers, like Houston City Council members, who we welcomed to the event last month. Many thanks to former Council Member Robert Gallegos, District I and current Council Members Mario Castillo, Joaquin Martinez, Martha Castex Tatum and Sallie Alcorn for joining us.

PRIDE@5 with LGBTQ+ REAL ESTATE ALLIANCE

Thanks to all who joined us for Pride@5 with the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance. Attendees expanded their professional network, made great community connections, and enjoyed tasty beverages from Eureka Heights Brew Co and delicious slices from Pizza Birra Vino!

B/ERG LEADERS ROUNDTABLE

Chamber leadership visited the Sysco Campus to connect with Chamber Impact Partner Employee Resource Groups (#ERG) for the ERG Leaders Roundtable. The Roundtable is part of the Chamber LGBTQ+ Workplace Alliance.

THRIVE SMALL BUSINESS SUMMIT& MATCHMAKER

We were so inspired by the participants at our inaugural THRIVE event. It was great to see so many small businesses and partners in the room. Connections were made, stories shared, and our first panelists provided great insight and advice. The Summit was a one-day event that provided resources and inspiration to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses and thrive, as well as connect businesses to Chamber Impact Partners and other members through the B2C, B2B and B2E Matchmaker. #ThriveWithPride

United Airlines waives bag fees for Houston business owner

It was incredible to see one of our Chamber Impact Partners help another Chamber Member seize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their small business on the national stage. Dreams were about to unravel for Khaliah Guillory, owner of the Nap Bar, when she was unable to secure shipment of her inventory to be showcased at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Thankfully, United Airlines came through. The Chamber was happy to play a role in helping this member business and extends HUGE thank you to United Airlines, a Chamber Cornerstone Impact Partner, for helping make her trip to the Grammys a reality!

Big congratulations to Senior Pastor Leslie Jackson and St. Peter United on the church’s 175th Anniversary. Chamber Director of Programming & Events Jack Berger presented an award from the Chamber to Pastor Jackson in recognition of this remarkable milestone!

2024 Inaugural Celebration day had City Hall buzzing with excitement as John Whitmire gaveled in his first City Council meeting as Houston's Mayor. Chamber Director of Governmental Relations Ray Purser and Chamber President Tammi Wallace were on hand to welcome the new administration members and to reunite with long time Chamber friends in local government. We look forward to working with these policy makers in the months ahead to ensure that the City of Houston becomes shining example of inclusion.
