✡︎ Shalom and Good Shabbos, Friends ✡︎
We've been noticing the similarities between arguments against limiting abortion access used by the National Council of Jewish Women(NCJW) and The Satanic Temple. Both organizations rely on demands for preserving bodily autonomy and insist on a religious right to destroy their own children.
Hoping to gain a religious exemption from any bans on obtaining chemical abortion pills, the Satanic Temple is preparing to sue the FDA for access under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), a 1993 federal law which made it illegal for states to interfere in anyone’s religion without demonstrating a compelling interest. We would say that a compelling interest would be the baby's life and the mother's health!
While the NCJW hasn't reported any plans to take legal action against federal agencies, its Kentucky chapter argued for religious exemptions from abortion bans during debate on HB 3, an omnibus pro-life bill that strengthens parental-consent requirements, creates higher standards for judges to approve the abortion without parental consent, creates new restrictions for medication abortions, addresses the disposal of fetal remains and increases reporting requirements.
Considering the similarities, we've been wondering why the two organizations haven't found common ground to work together. Our friend, Rabbi Jonathan Gross, happened to send us a link to his recent piece published in the Gateway Pundit that answers that question. He says that the Satanic Temple's diabolical reputation doesn't help other pro-choice efforts.
In today's newsletter, we share Rabbi Gross' article and several peeks into the macabre world of the satanic temple. On an uplifting note, we're happy to share that LiveAction published our report on the DC trip, and our friends at CNS News expanded on our recent newsletter comparing almost all abortions to the loss of life at Auschwitz.
Thanks to our friends at the American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs, we're changing the language around the 'abortion to save the mother's life' exception. After all the years of hearing that abortion is necessary in these rare situations which usually occur in the second and third trimesters, it turns out that abortion is NEVER necessary. Abortion is the barbaric destruction of human life in the womb, however, to save the life of the mother it is medically and ethically preferable to humanely remove the baby from the uterus. The baby can be saved if he is viable by utilizing a neonatal intensive care. If the baby is not viable and allowed to pass peacefully, a dignified burial and a grieving period follows. In truly life threatening situations, the mother's life is saved quickly by cesarean section delivery, rather than risking her life awaiting the two days of preparation required for an abortion. We offer two videos on this crucial subject.
We had to share Brucha Weisberger's thorough analysis of abortion realities from a medical and religious view. The author starts his exhaustive work with:
"Here, G-d willing, I want to help people understand the cruelty of abortion and the evil forces behind it, and then present G-d’s viewpoint on abortion. This can be clearly seen in the Torah, the guide for life that He handed to us, and which gives us an understanding of Him and His will."
We finish up the newsletter with Kavshiel's report of Janet Yellen's atrocious statement on abortion policy, Alice Lemos' review of the Gosnell play, and a review by its authors of all the drama round the showing of the play.
