Programs for your classroom:

Welcome to the first edition of the #c70ed Newsletter, a brand new statewide newsletter dedicated to reinvigorating civics education in Pennsylvania. The Committee of Seventy is the Commonwealth's oldest nonpartisan good government group. We'll deliver timely resources and ideas to your inbox to help you stay current in your classroom.

We aim to help equip the next generation of Pennsylvanians with the skills to be super voters and engaged citizens. Join us as we share new experiential learning activities, spotlight creative programs, and offer ideas for teaching about current events.

Most importantly, thank you for the work you do with your students!

The Primary Election is Two Months Away

Pennsylvania's primary election on May 16th features the judiciary and local offices, like mayors, city councils, and school boards. Many students don't realize that these races arguably have a greater impact on their daily lives than federal and statewide elections.

The PA Youth Vote Mock Election gives students hands-on experience learning about who is on the ballot, researching who they would support, and then casting their vote. Learn more and sign up.

The mock election is coupled with our Elections & Voting Curriculum. You can adopt the entire curriculum or pick-and-choose different lessons.

Join the Teacher Advisory Council

We are activity recruiting members to help develop resources and conduct outreach to fellow educators across the Commonwealth. We're offering $1,000 stipends to those who are accepted. Details and how to apply are here.

Help us with a survey on civics curricula

We are working with UPenn to collect data on civics curricula taught around the state. Help us out by completing a short survey by March 13th, and you'll be entered into a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card. Responses are anonymous and each specific question is optional. Thanks in advance!
