ALERT FROM NAPLES NAVY

During the last storm patterns, the Naples Navy pumped over 5,000 gallons of water from boats in the canal and around the Island. We probably saved at least 6 boats from going under!

Whalers are most susceptible because of their heavy motors and low transoms. We stress that you check your battery levels and confirm the bilge pumps are in working order. Please know that the battery can be drained after one full day of rain if the boat is not plugged into power.

Go down before this next possible rain storm and run your engines to charge the battery if needed and check it each day. Two inches of rain can mean 250 gallons of water in a boat. We of course will be out pumping if needed, but don’t depend on us to get to your boat in time. A community effort can be made by telling a neighbor that their boat looks in peril. If you can’t find an owner then call or text The Naples Navy with a location and we will try to deploy.

Safe boating and be storm aware!
