50th Anniversary

Celebrating TUSD's 50 Years on the 50th Day of School

On the fiftieth day of school, October 26, students and staff across TUSD celebrated our 50th anniversary with a 50's spirit day.  From poodle skirts to pedal pushers and T-Birds jackets, it was wonderful to see so many join us in honoring our golden anniversary. We look forward to sharing photos from across our history with you in future editions of this newsletter. And if you have a photo from TUSD's history, we want to see it! Please email your photos from the past to our Communications Team.

OWW Haircuts at Utt

Haircuts and Manicures from OWW for Utt Falcons

Operation Warm Wishes (OWW) offered free haircuts and manicures to students and staff for OWW’s Ultimate Haircut Day at Utt Middle School. Four hairstylists and two manicurists volunteered to provide Falcons with 65 haircuts and 10 manicures throughout the event. “It’s an honor to be able to give back to the middle school I attended,” TyRon Jackson, President of Operation Warm Wishes, touched on. “I’ve been a paraeducator at TUSD for 16 years. We are a community that supports each other and that is what TUSD reflects.” Mr. Jackson proves again, once a Falcon always a Falcon!

Beckman Instrumental Music

The Force is with Beckman Instrumental Students during Stellar Star Wars Concert

Under the direction of Instrumental Music Director Jim Kollias, Beckman instrumental music students wowed a packed house at their Star Wars concert this week. Guests, many in costume, were welcomed by Beckman drama students dressed as Jedis with stickers for all the kids in attendance. The Beckman string orchestra would make composer John Williams proud as students beautifully performed favorites from the Star Wars film scores. It was a wonderful evening spent enjoying a stellar performance by our Patriots!

Red Ribbon Week

TUSD Students Celebrate Life and Live Drug Free with Red Ribbon Week

This week, students and staff across TUSD participated in Red Ribbon Week.  This year's theme is Celebrate Life and Live Drug Free. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week, held annually October 23-31. Across all of our campuses, students and staff participated in fun spirit days to show their commitment to a drug free lifestyle. From neon for bright drug-free futures to sports jerseys as we team up against drugs, it was a great week in TUSD!
