Stedman Families,

It was a week full of gratitude here at Stedman, and we are thankful for YOU. We loved getting a chance to connect with families during the Thanksgiving lunch yesterday, and we hope everyone can carry that spirit of gratitude into the Thanksgiving break.

We are excited that Ms. Robbin Trotter has officially been announced by DPS as Stedman's Interim Principal beginning in January. Please see below for more. I know Ms. Trotter will be an excellent leader for our community, and we are all very excited to have her step into this role.

Don't forget to stop by Lost & Found today! It will be out at pick-up time, and any items left by the end of today will be donated.

As a reminder, we will host the monthly school store on Monday when we return from break. Students can bring their Stedman Bucks like usual, but we know it's different from the usual Friday store.

Special thanks go to our PTA for managing the excellent Book Fair this week. The look of joy on students' faces as they shopped (and got a free book each!) was life-giving.

We know that Denver has been receiving many migrants from Venezuela who are need in of support as they acclimate to life here. If you are interested in being part of an emergency needs committee to help support when needs arise, please email Cynthia Pesantez: cynthia@pesantez.org.

Fue una semana llena de gratitud aquí en Stedman, y estamos agradecidos por USTED. DPS FAMILY SURVEY

The DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” Family Survey window has been extended until Friday, Dec. 1. Families can access the survey link by going to dpsk12.org/survey/. As a reminder, families who complete their survey between now and Dec. 1 will be eligible for a gift card giveaway! Questions take less than 10 minutes to complete. Responses to the survey are anonymous and serve to inform decisions on how we can better serve our DPS community.

As a reminder, unlike previous years, DPS will administer the survey to families once in the fall and will administer it to students once in the spring. DPS conducted two surveys in May 2023 to understand the perceptions of parents, guardians and students. Click here for a high-level overview of DPS results on key measures.

TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

The week before Transgender Day of Remembrance (on November 20), people and organizations around the country participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise the visibility of transgender people and address issues members of the community face.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence that year. 2021 marks the most deadly year recorded with at least 45 transgender people, most of them Black or Latinx, killed.
