SaskCulture Board nominations open |
SaskCulture is seeking talented, dynamic, conscientious and energetic individuals interested in volunteering to assist in the cultural development of Saskatchewan. The positions open for election at the 2024 Annual General Meeting are as follows:
- Chair
- Directors from the following communities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the arts
- First Nations ancestry and a demonstrated knowledge of First Nations culture
- Membership at Large
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiculturalism
Applications received after the May 1 deadline will be treated as a nomination from the floor. For more information and to fill out an application form, visit the SaskCulture website.

Sask. Writers' Guild opens member survey | The Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild (SWG) is engaging its members, program participants and other stakeholders with a survey in order to better understand who its members are, and to evaluate and inform program and service offerings. SWG will share a summary of the findings in April 2024. Read more | Black History Month Art Auction fundraises for charities | The Saskatchewan Network for Art Collecting has over 150 artworks on offer for its Black History Month Art Auction. The auction highlights the work of Black artists and celebrates Black subjects, while raising funds for two Black-focused charities: the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum and the Black Excellence Scholarship at Sage Hill Writing. Bidding closes on February 25. Read more | Employees in arts and culture more likely to have multiple jobs | A full-time, well-paid job in arts and culture may be getting even harder to find. Hill Strategies recently released data showing the increase in the number of arts and cultural workers holding multiple jobs, based on an average over a three-year period. Across Canada, an average of 9.9% of arts and cultural workers hold multiple jobs, an increase from 5.4% in 1989. In Saskatchewan, Hill reports that 10.6% of arts and cultural workers hold multiple jobs, which is slightly higher than the national average and an increase from 9.9% in 1989 for Saskatchewan. Read more | Fill out this survey for artists and other cultural workers | Kelly Hill and the Cultural Human Resources Council have launched a survey, open from February 14 to March 6. The survey aims to investigate qualitative elements of working conditions in the arts and culture that are not captured by the Census or other statistical sources. Survey participants are eligible to get the results and analysis before they go out to the general public. Read more | | |
