HOST AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

Please share with friends and families! Private & Public School F-1 Exchange (PSE) is seeking a host family for an Italian student who will be attending Groton-Dunstable Regional High School for the Spring 2024 semester and needs a host family ASAP.

Alice is a 17-year old girl from Italy. She is Christian and an exemplary student and young lady. Alice will be attending Groton-Dunstable Regional High School for the Spring 2024 semester.  She is willing to attend church services with her host family! Click on the picture above to open the flyer.

School starts on 1/22/24, and we need to secure a host family for her as soon as possible. Our students bring their own spending money and PSE offers an $800/month stipend to help with food/gas expenses as well as providing outstanding support!

Please contact Flo Webb at fwebb@pse-edu.org or 480-650-5644 for more information.

Hosting is a wonderful way for a family to experience other cultures without traveling to those countries. Plus, it is a great experience for everyone involved while sharing different cultures and making memories to last a lifetime. If you know anyone who would be interested in hosting, please reach out to Flo as soon as possible. She will be happy to answer any questions that arise.

SMALL CHURCH WEEK

Practical Training for Everyday Churches

January 29-February 2

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?

Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

There is lots of work to do, from organizing our library to re-arranging boxes in the archives to cataloging hundreds of files. Please feel free to join us. For further information please contact Rev. Diane Badger,

diane.badger@comcast.net.

REGION-WIDE BOOK GIVE AWAY

After listening to several long-time pastors state that they have libraries full of books they no longer need and working with new pastors just beginning their journey as settled pastors, it was felt it would be beneficial to hold our second book give-away.

We have enough books left from our last give-away in November that we felt we should give more folks a chance to come look through the books and take home some treasures.

Any books left at the end of the day become the property of the archives who will dispose of them as they see fit; some may remain in our library, some may be sold on EBay or passed on to other sources.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact diane.badger@comcast.net

A REFLECTION ON MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY FROM ABCUSA GENERAL SECRETARY DR. C. WOODS

As Heather McGee writes in her book, The Sum of Us, too often the work of antiracism is a Zero Sum Game. The majority of Americans believe that in order to Blacks to do better, whites must suffer. McGee sites many examples as evidence including the draining of swimming pools in the 1930s, that resulted in loss of a public good.

In this radically polarized society of ours, too often political parties also believe that one side must suffer for the other side to accomplish something. This belief stifles solutions that could benefit all of humanity.

We read in John 10:10 that the “thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. Jesus, however, declared, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
