Join Today's "Call-to-Action"
New York Farm Bureau is asking you to join members from across the state during today's "Call-to-Action!" Please email and call New York State lawmakers and ask them to support critical budget funding for agriculture.
It is simple. You can go to NYFB's e-lobby page, where in just a few easy steps, you can send a message directly to the governor and your local senator and assembly member. But we also need the senate majority leader and assembly speaker to hear from you too. A quick phone call to both offices will help prioritize agriculture in state budget negotiations.
Here is what to say when you call:
Please support critical funding for agriculture in the this year's state budget.
- We need to fully fund NY agriculture in the NYS budget!
- Investing in agriculture supports NY’s food system and greater economy.
- NY’s budget funds critical environmental, animal health, and research programs that agriculture industries use and depend on to improve their best management practices, such as the Turfgrass Environmental Stewardship Fund.
- Research is critical to solving the needs of the future, improving sustainability and animal care, and making farms more efficient.
- The NYS budget also promotes NY grown products across the state and world which helps businesses grow and generates additional economic activity for the state.
- The Nourish NY program has proven to benefit both farms and people in need. It redirects fresh, locally grown food into regional food banks and emergency food pantries while also helping farms offset the costs to produce, harvest, package, and transport healthy food.
- New York’s farmers support every child having access to fresh, healthy food while at school. Please support Healthy School Meals for All which would generate stable revenue for school districts and increase buying power for local food purchasing.
