Encore Cleveland connects people who are in or nearing retirement from their primary careers with volunteer and employment opportunities through local nonprofit organizations.

ENCORE CLEVELAND NEWS

The Cleveland Leadership Center, the Dayton Foundation and Del Delmar Encore are collaborating to identifying age-friendly recreational trails throughout the Ohio North South Corridor, provide podcasts for staying fit and a series of age-friendly Get Fit events.


The vision for this project is a collaborative effort to promote the health benefit of safe recreational walking, jogging and biking trails throughout Ohio. Outputs from this project would be the creation of a statewide guide.

Stewardship Saturday-Join the Natural Resources Manager in completing Land Management and Trail Maintenance tasks at a Nature Center in Shaker Heights on Saturday, March 25th 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Volunteers will be involved in invasive plant removal in the marsh and other habitats, as well as maintaining the mile-long trail. Wear boots or old shoes and bring a water bottle.


Fight For Air Climb-Volunteers needed for non-profit's fundraising event on Sunday, April 30th 7 a.m.-1 p.m. at Progressive Field. Help with t-shirt distribution, registration, or as a way finder/cheerleader. Beverages and snacks provided, $5 parking. Volunteer t-shirt provided, to be worn with clean no holed jeans/pants, rubber soled shoes and weather appropriate gear. 

 

Tree Tale Teller-Help educate young children and their caregivers about the value of trees and raise awareness about Holden Forest & Gardens programs by presenting tree-themed story times at area libraries. Volunteers needed weekday mornings and afternoons.

 

Errand Delivery Driver- As an Errand Delivery Driver you will deliver personal care items, cleaning supplies and essential items to homebound older adults in Cleveland. Volunteers are needed to make 5-10 deliveries per route.

 

Chat Pal-Would you like to volunteer from your own home? Assist in reducing social isolation for older adults 55+. Contact participant via phone, zoom, or facetime. Be willing and ready to engage in friendly conversation regularly. Volunteers needed for a minimum 15-minute call each week.
