The Marylanders Online Call Center provides Maryland residents with free one-on-one tech support including hardware and software support, internet connectivity, and ACP application assistance. Digital navigators also direct callers to online resources and to digital literacy events held by government and community organizations.

Digital Navigator Training & Professional Development

On July 17th-19th, the University of Maryland Extension (UME) in partnership with the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) offered an online three-day Digital Navigator Training and Professional Development, preparing digital navigators to bring digital equity to Maryland. For those who might have missed the training or would like to relive those moments, all the links, handouts, recordings, and resources from the presentation can be accessed here.

University of Maryland Extension is a licensed partner with Senior Planet from AARP offering a wide range of programs and digital skill classes that helps older adults learn and use technology so they could live more connected in the digital age.
Our next 5-week Train the Trainer series will begin the week of August 14th. My name is Blaise Brennan (he/him) and I'm a new Tech Educator in Baltimore City. My mission is to work together with communities and groups here in Baltimore to bring digital skills education, internet connectivity, and affordable digital devices to every corner of the city! Before I joined Extension, I worked at a non-profit here in Baltimore to help people apply for benefits like SNAP, Lifeline free phones, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) home internet benefit, and several other money-saving benefits. A few years ago, before I changed careers, I was a software developer who focused on creating accessible and intuitive user interfaces. My passion is expanding digital literacy by meeting people where they are, respecting their boundaries, and encouraging healthy and safe engagement with useful technologies.
Recently, I have worked with the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) to promote ACP enrollment and broadband internet adoption. At each event we support HABC staff in enrolling residents in the ACP benefit, choosing an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and getting tech support with our Marylanders Online call center. At this time I don't have pictures from the most recent ACP enrollment event. I do however have pictures from the recent Financial Expo which was co-hosted by HABC and Michael Elonge, Financial Wellness Educator with University of Maryland Extension.
