Last Chance: The League of Chicago Theatres’ New Spotlight Ticketing Initiative!
The League of Chicago Theatres is proud to announce the Spotlight Ticketing Initiative. A pilot program designed to make our annual gala more equitable and accessible to all members of the Chicagoland Theatre Community. Our generous gala sponsors have joined forces this year to support this cause. They have kindly donated some of their gala tickets back to the organization. These donated tickets will be available to members of the Chicagoland theatre community.
Members of the Chicagoland theatre community can sign up online to be added to the waitlist. Tickets are 100% FREE. Participants will be notified by September 15. For additional information, please contact info@chicagoplays.com.

Ep6: LOCT September Industry Vodcast
In this month's episode you'll hear from our Executive Director, Marissa about the current happenings at the League including our upcoming Gala, the Backstage Champion and Emerging Theatre Award, the Spotlight Ticket Initiative, the Fall Guide, and more! You'll meet Myesha-Tiara McGarner, Artistic Director of Perceptions Theatre, and learn about their recently closed Black Playwright's Festival, and about her current production: a hit dog will holler, which she is directing at the Den Theatre. Then you'll hear from Tanya Ward from Rivendell Theatre about the great success of Motherhouse ahead of its THIRD run! You'll also hear from Willow James from Artemisia Theatre about his work on a hit dog will holler as well, running through September 17, 2023. Finally, you'll see a sneak peak of Cat's Cradle at Lifeline Theatre running through October 22nd, 2023. Inclusion in the 2023 Holiday Theatre Guide
The League’s professionally-printed Holiday Theatre Guide will include productions happening during the holiday season, mid-November through December. The guides will be distributed across the city and there will also be a digital guide that will be promoted via social media and email.
To ensure your shows are included in the holiday guide, your show pages must be on ChicagoPlays.com by Friday, October 6.
Please note that only shows listed on ChicagoPlays.com will be included in the guide. If you have yet to do so, create your upcoming show pages by using your theatre company's unique username and password on the Theatre Manager login page. If you have questions, please contact Kara@chicagoplays.com.
In addition to your free listing, you can also help cover the printing cost by placing an advertisement for your holiday show. If you are interested in placing an ad, contact hayley@chicagoplays.com for details. Ad space reservations are also due by Friday, October 6.

The League’s annual Fall Theatre Guides are fresh off the press and available for pick up at the League office or from Hot Tix at Block 37. Arts in the Dark 2023
Join the League of Chicago Theatres and participate along with dozens of other Chicago arts organizations at the 9th Annual Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 21st from 6-8pm on State Street moving south from Lake to Van Buren. Arts in the Dark is a family-friendly event that is free and open to the public. Black Theater Alliance - Due to the passing of founder Vincent Williams, the Black Theater Alliance Awards will not hold its annual 2023 ceremony. It will instead on September 18, 2023, at 7:30pm, present “An Evening of Celebration for Vincent Williams, Founder of BTAA”, at National Women Veterans United, 8620 South Pulaski Road, Lower Level, Chicago, IL. Their mission is to develop a stronger voice representing diversity and create sanctuary for minority artisans who strive to impact the landscape of the African American theatre. The evening of scenes, songs, and testimonials will mark Mr. Williams’ contribution to Chicago’s African American theatre community. Tickets can be secured here. | | |
The Cook County Small Business Source proudly introduces The 2023 Source Grant, which will provide $40 Million in grants to small businesses to help stabilize operations, foster recovery and resiliency, and advance equity in a post-pandemic economy. Lawyer's for the Creative Arts is hosting a Sexual Harassment Prevention & Bystander Intervention Training for Supervisors & Employers on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 1-4pm CT via Zoom. Lawyers for the Creative Arts wants to make sure that every arts organization with one or more Chicago employees is in compliance and has a clear understanding of their responsibilities under the new law. This training will satisfy the annual training requirement for Chicago Employers and includes the two hour Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for supervisors and managers and one hour Bystander Training for all employees, plus a Q & A session at the end.
