Dear Normandale Families,

March 2 is “Read Across America Day” and Normandale has been doing its part! During our Read-a-Thon, La Lecture J’assure, Normandale students blew past their goal of reading 500,000 minutes and logged 887,349 minutes!

As part of the Read-a-Thon we also had several authors work with Normandale students. Check out the list of authors and storytellers that stopped by Normandale over the past few weeks:

  • Amy Grove- American author Amy Grove worked in person with kindergartners
  • Camille Kohler- French author Camille Kohler worked in person with third and fourth graders
  • Annie Groovie- Canadian author Annie Groovie met virtually with first graders
  • Anne Kovalevsky- French storyteller, Anne Kovalevsky, met virtually with fourth and fifth graders
  • Chris Krie- American author Chris Krie, worked in person with second and third graders

It has been fun to see our students so excited about reading! Ask your student(s) what they remember from these author visits.

PARENT INPUT FORM

Each spring, teachers and support staff meet and confer to develop class lists for the coming year, striving to create classes where optimum learning for all students can take place. It is our goal to have balanced classes across each grade level. Although requests for specific teachers are not considered, if you have information about your child that should be taken into consideration, please complete the Parent Input Form. Note that this form is optional. Additionally, information that comes in after the deadline may not be considered as the placement process will have already started. The due date for this information is Friday, March 31.

We consider many factors as we try to balance classes and accommodate individual needs such as gender balance, emotional/social combinations, performance levels, special learning needs, teaching/learning styles, and behavioral factors.

IMAGINATION FAIR - MONDAY, MARCH 13 6:00-7:30 PM

Registration for the 2023 Normandale Imagination Fair is now open!

Our annual Imagination Fair is an opportunity for Normandale students to showcase their experiments, inventions, or creations. All Normandale students from Kindergarten to 5th grade are invited to participate. Students may work alone, with another student, or in a group.
