 New Member Spotlight

Alejandra Juarez

Regional Sales Director, HealthBridge

Alejandra [Juarez] is deeply passionate about whole person health – helping employers build strategies that integrate well-being, mental health, and physical health care – to improve one's health.

Alejandra has spent 14 years in employee benefits as an advocate for well-being, emphasizing the importance of health dimensions as a strategy for managing healthcare costs, driving corporate engagement, and strengthening workplace cultures. She has supported global organizations with services integration and implementation strategies for behavioral health. In her time as an advocate for emotional well-being, Alejandra has presented and led educational webinars for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan, Michigan Society of Human Resource Management, Turnaround Management Association, and Meeting Professionals International. Alejandra is excited and most proud of her recent achievement in completing a Diversity and Inclusion certification from Cornell University to enhance her ability to educate employers on the importance and need for equity in healthcare access.

Alejandra lives out her passion for health and well-being by volunteering with local organizations that help individuals live happier, healthier lives. She enjoys spending Saturdays supporting initiatives that reduce food insecurities and advocating to improve social determinants of health in her community. Alejandra also fancies herself as an amateur chef who loves to host dinners inspired by her love of NYT Cooking. She loves learning about others' life experiences and cultures and believes this is best accomplished over a homemade meal.

“I'm excited to have joined MSED to build relationships with professionals like myself. During my time as a sales executive, I've valued the guidance and lessons imparted upon me by others with more experience and time in the industry. I saw joining MSED as an excellent opportunity to connect with others who can support my growth and benefit from a collective sphere of influence this group of professionals has built over the years.”

A Message from the President

"What a Busy Month"

After months and months…perhaps years…the Detroit Auto Show resumed. What a great time for us. Marketing and Sales Executives of Detroit is all about networking and learning from our peers. With COVID we have all felt the isolation. But now I think we will all agree “We are back!” Read what our Board Member, Joe Melnick, had to say about the Auto Show below.

A quick reminder: Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next networking event at Shield's Pizza in Troy on Wednesday, October 26th from 5:30-7:30PM. Click HERE for the registration link.

See you on the 26th!

An Auto Show Review

By Joe Melnick

MSE Detroit Treasurer

You may have heard or read that the recent North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) was “not your father’s auto show.” That observation reflects that in addition to moving the show from January to September, technology changes impacting the industry have occurred, including fewer exhibits and fewer automotive manufacturers participating. The new NAIAS reflects new thinking about auto shows and the industry, all within the context of the industry and the world emerging on the other side of a global pandemic.

The look and feel of this year’s show reflects a much stronger orientation to the consumer experience and celebration of an industry going through its most significant pivot since the industry formed over a century ago. Replacing the glitz and glamor of companies trying to one-up each other with new product introductions, there were hands-on product experiences with exhibits such as Ford and Jeep. There were also previews of what products will look like in an electric future. And there were dinosaurs and a two-story high rubber duck.

One commentator likened the event to a regional auto show away from a global event of the past. But that simply reflects the orientation and emphasis on engaging consumers and their families in new products in an entertaining way. In addition, the presentation of many exciting new technologies that will appeal to whole new generations of consumers and potential workers was focused on engaging them in one of the largest and most important industries in the world.

The concept of auto shows of the past was already changing, and this year was one of reinvention and new thinking. The entire world has changed dramatically over the past few years, and this is a first step for the mobility industry. Dates for 2023 have already been set: September 13 - 23. Time to embrace and celebrate the future!
