South Old Woodward Reconstruction Phase 3 Project Update
August 9, 2022
Progress Update
Last week, the contractor placed concrete on the east side of South Old Woodward Avenue, north of Haynes Street. The parking and northbound driving lanes were completed along the east side of South Old Woodward Avenue between Haynes Street and Bowers Street. Water main tie-ins were completed at the Frank Street and Hazel Street intersections along with the installation of new fire hydrants north of Hazel.

The contractor completed fire hydrant replacements and property water main tie-ins north of Hazel Street ahead of schedule, eliminating the need for the previously scheduled water shutdown on Tuesday, August 9! The City thanks the crew for their speedy work, resulting in less water supply disruption to residents and businesses in the project area.

This week, the contractor plans to continue placing concrete for the parking and driving lanes along the east side of South Old Woodward Avenue between Bowers Street and Hazel Street. Crews will begin installing planter boxes behind the curb on the east side of the project area starting at Hazel Street and continuing north. The electrical contractor continues the installations north of Hazel Street.
