Monty McDowell, CEO, of Advance Management, Inc. speaks to graduating youth at the recent Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Graduation held at the Judiciary of Guam.

Congratulations to the

Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Graduates

The Chamber congratulates eight (8) Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Graduates who completed the program on February 19th at the Superior Court of Guam Judiciary of Guam. Chamber member companies provide life skills workshops and incentives throughout the year which support students enrolled in the program. These member contributions provide a powerful role in contributing to their growth, knowledge, and aspirations. We wish the graduates success as they move forward, living a drug-free life.

About the Life Skills Program:

In partnership with the Judiciary of Guam – Juvenile Drug Court Program, the Chamber members provide life skills for youth (17 and below) who have progressed to the final stages of the program. The Chamber strives to schedule life skills sessions once a month, which usually take place on a Friday from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm. If your company would be interested in hosting this month’s session or another time down the road, we'd be happy to schedule a date on the calendar. It would be most helpful to have these clients exposed to the different career options that they may find interest in.

Past life skills workshops include: hotel tours and operations; auto dealerships ‘behind the scenes’; touring printing companies and seeing the back end of production; banking advice and beginner steps; and learning about marketing.

Wish to provide incentives? Your support of packaged chips and cookies or meal coupons are greatly appreciated! These will be given out to clients who do well during the program.

UOG School for Business Emerging Audit Technologies Survey

University of Guam invites you to take part in their survey, a crucial component of their research paper, aimed at identifying the current audit technologies being implemented in Guam business entities with audit functions to understand how they have impacted the audit process. Participant identities will be kept anonymous and responses will be kept confidential and used exclusively for research purposes.

The objective of UOG research is to obtain valuable information from business leaders involved in audit engagements and address the gap of information regarding current audit technologies being implemented in Guam. The results of the research will be analyzed to determine and understand the various effects it has had on audit processes.

They hope the research gathered will benefit entities who have already, are currently, or are planning to implement similar technological advances and who wish to contribute to the future of enhanced audits on Guam.

Take the survey today!

U.S. Chamber Updates

Fighting a Tax Hike on Main Street Business in 2025

Stakes are high in the fight to protect Main Street businesses as Congress debates making a vital tax deduction permanent.

What’s happening: If Congress doesn’t act, more than 22 million privately held and family-owned businesses could see a major tax increase starting next year.

Fill me in: In 2017, Congress lowered corporate tax rates and created a 20% pass-through deduction for businesses operating as sole proprietorships, partnerships, and S corporations. However, the deduction is scheduled to expire at the end of 2025.

The breakdown: A pass-through tax means that business profits are taxed on the owner's personal tax return instead of being taxed separately for the business. This includes businesses like sole proprietorships, partnerships, and S corporations, where profits flow directly to owners and are taxed at individual rates.

Why it matters: Allowing the deduction to expire would amount to a tax increase on millions of businesses, leading to less hiring, lower wages for workers, and a more challenging path to success for millions of Americans.
