January 2024 Newsletter

President's Message

Happy New Year!

We may only be a few  weeks into 2024, but our 2024 membership drive is well underway. A BIG THANK YOU for those who have already completed their membership form and started or completed their payment. If you haven't already renewed online, make time to do that today. (Reducing procrastination is one of MY New Year's resolutions!) And start thinking about who you are going to invite to participate this year. It might sound cliché, but if each member brings a friend, we will double our numbers and exponentially change the face of philanthropy in Anne Arundel County.

We need your network! You can help us meet our goal of adding new members and re-engaging past members. We need you to help us spread the word, so it is important that you share why you are a member of Impact100 with friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. The size of our grant is directly related to the number of our memberships, and each member can help recruit new members so we can make an even bigger difference. We know that our members love learning about new nonprofits and voting for their project, and every vote counts.

As our community continues to face complex challenges that have only deepened through the pandemic, women's philanthropy is more important than ever for 2024!

Throughout the past few years our local nonprofits were on the front lines helping individuals get through the pandemic in a variety of ways. Our work with these nonprofits makes a huge immediate impact on the way they do business, on the services they can offer, and the people they can serve. We are proud to have granted $434,000 over the last six years to Anne Arundel County nonprofits, and we can't wait to get together to make an even greater impact in 2024.

We have a lot in the coming months to get excited for including our New Member Social. Make sure you are following us on social media to get the latest info on all of the upcoming events!

Impact100 Greater Chesapeake members have reinvested $434,000 into our community through transformational grants to local nonprofits.

Winner of Impact100 Greater Chesapeake's 2023 Transformational $90,000 Grant was the Annapolis Symphony Academy. This grant will be the catalyst for the Annapolis Symphony Academy to reach more youth in Anne Arundel County while nearly doubling the existing cohort by 2025.

This grant will specifically support the 2023 expansion of programming from group to individual lessons in two community centers (The Salvation Army and Banneker Douglass/Annapolis Housing Authority for the Robin Wood Community); the expansion of the existing cohort at Marshall Hope where a group of predominantly immigrant students learn music while English as a Second Language classes are offered to family members; and build a new branch of the program in North Anne Arundel County in 2024. Additionally, this grant will contribute toward the pre-existing exploratory discussions for expansion sites in Anne Arundel County Public Schools (focusing on Title 1), the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park, and the Boys and Girls Club in Severn.

This grant will also support an “Impact100 community concert” with two performances held in Brooklyn Park in 2025, to both celebrate the program and garner new students for continued secondary impacts of the grant.
