10:00 AM Holy Eucharist at St. John's

|
Dear friends,
For some of you, this is not new news, but for those who don’t know, I am moving to Morgan Hill this month! My new home is as close to St. John’s as my current place is to St. Stephen’s, so it’s just as convenient for my travel to both churches! I’m looking forward to having a little more space, a little yard, and a garage!
As much as I’m looking forward to it, moving is the pits. It’s stressful and it’s a lot of work. The group that gathered for lunch on the lawn at St. John’s yesterday reminded me of the story about Mary and Martha. Yes, I am feeling a little like Martha in the sense that I’m busy and distracted. But taking the time to listen to Jesus, more like Mary did, is like salve for the soul. I can do both. I can turn off my audible book (which is usually a suspense/mystery/crime title) and make time to talk and listen to God. I can even pray and pack at the same time!
I’m blessed to be able to pack and clean and know that God is right there with me. I am blessed by the conversation around the lunch table yesterday and know that God was in our midst.
I hope you have time today to talk and listen to God – no matter how busy or stressed you are. God is right there with you.
Blessings and peace,
Karen+

Volunteers Needed!
Santa Maria needs pantry volunteers to box groceries between 9:00am and 11:30am on weekdays. It’s a gratifying way to make a big difference in the lives of others. Call Santa Maria Urban Ministry at 408-292-3314. You must be at least twelve years old to volunteer.

Help Kids Get Back To School
Every year Santa Maria supports children and families with a back to school program. This program provides much needed funds for school supplies, clothing and shoes for students.
Santa Maria has found that gift cards provide the most effective and empowering way to help their clients. With gift cards to Target, children can shop for their own new shoes and clothing while parents can get only the school supplies their children need.
The gift card program replaces Santa Maria’s backpack distribution because plenty of backpacks are available to children from other organizations.

St. John’s has a black spinet piano that is being replaced and is looking for a good home. It’s a great piano in great condition. If you, or someone you know of, would like to own it, please contact Ginny at 51996ma@gmail.com

There’s a light river
of new mulch running,
flowing over the
older, darker bark
between the rose and
labyrinth gardens, on
your way to the new
island mallow, right
under the purple
Brazilian tree,
the jacaranda
who just stopped blooming
the chips are from our
pines, making a new path.

“When people are empty of Christ, a thousand and other things come and fill them up: jealousies, hatreds, boredom, melancholy, resentment, a worldly outlook, worldly pleasure. Try to fill your sould with Christ so that it’s not empty.”
-St. Porphyrios

NEEDING PRAYER SUPPORT?
Prayer is one of those things we often think about, might feel inadequate about, believe in but might be unsure how to proceed. How we pray is sometimes unique to each of us. The Church provides help in many ways. If you find yourself in need, of any kind (emotional, physical, spiritual, guidance, etc) consider how St. Stephen's can support you:
* there is a prayer chain of committed pray-ers (who maintain confidentiality).
* tell people about your answers to prayer! and the miracles you witness, or how prayer changes YOU.
Please submit prayer requests to Rev. Karen.
