APEC November 11-18, 2023

Anyone traveling through the City should allow

for extra time and be prepared for delays.


Below is information about APEC for community partners. We plan to send out brief emails on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week as well. Please email Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response at phepr.community@sfdph.org if you have questions.

Security Exclusion Zones will Limit Downtown Access:


Due to security for APEC, areas around events will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians, except for event attendees or people who live or work within the security boundaries beginning this weekend. More information about Security Zones here

 

Security boundaries include:

SoMa:

  • Market to Harrison streets
  • 2nd to 5th streets


Nob Hill:

 

  • Clay to Pine streets
  • Taylor to Stockton streets


Muni and BART Impacts:


Everyone should expect congestion downtown, traffic delays, transit reroutes and potential crowding on Muni. 


  • More than 15 Muni routes will see changes from Nov. 13-19
  • Muni Metro T-Third service will be suspended and combined with the K-Ingleside from Balboa Park to Embarcadero to Sunnydale. No Metro service will be provided to the Yerba Buena/Moscone or Fourth and Brannan stations.

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) expects all four of its downtown stations to remain open during APEC and for trains to run on their regular schedules and make their usual stops. 


Bay Bridge Lane Closures:


Lane Closures: Nov. 14 at 5 a.m. to Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. 


  • I-80 Eastbound - leftmost lane
  • I-80 Westbound - rightmost lane

Offramp Closures: Nov. 15 to 17, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. (daily)


  • Eastbound 4th Street offramp
  • Westbound 5th Street offramp


Golden Gate Bridge Off-Ramp Closure:


Nov. 14 to Nov. 18 at 9 p.m.
