The center of a requiem traditionally includes a communion mass and uses the words we also use during communion – the sanctus. In a sanctus, or “acclamation of praise,” we remember that God is holy and we lift praise and gratitude for all this represents. In the story of the woman at the well, Jesus tells the woman that he is the true water of life – that he is the very holy one worthy of our praise.
