Victorian Valentines Workshop

The Pullen’s Corner Schoolhouse, nestled in the Great Road Heritage Campus at Chase Farm Park, invites you to escape the cold and embrace the love-infused atmosphere on Saturday afternoon, February 10th. Warm up by the wood stove and relish the historical ambiance as you engage in creating beautiful valentines.

Our “Victorian Valentines” workshop will be hosted by schoolmarms and students dressed in historic attire as participants take a journey back to the enchanting Victorian era to learn about how this romantic holiday got its start, which was well before you could go to a store to buy a card.  It was a time when Valentine’s Day sentiments were personally crafted including images and words that describe one’s affection. Inspired by charming antique and vintage Valentine's cards on display, participants are provided the opportunity to create beautiful Valentines using an array of  materials, including lace, paper doilies, ribbons, hearts, flowers, and much more.

This family-friendly event caters to both children and adults, each featuring slightly different activities geared to the age group. While children ages 5 to 12 experience the schoolhouse environment, teens and adults can join volunteers next door at the park’s visitor center building with a choice of more sophisticated materials to work with.

There are multiple time slots to select from in order to accommodate all participants starting at 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, and the last one at 2:30. The participation fee of $10 includes all materials, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone and for those receiving the beautiful Valentine's creations.

Register now to hold your spot, as space is limited at each time slot.  Payment online.  For reservations of 1-2 people, optional payment at the door in CASH ONLY (correct amount, please).
