Good Afternoon Zach -

Believe it or not, it’s almost senior year! We’re sending you an additional message because you are currently on track to fulfill the residency requirement during the Spring 2024 semester.

Students who have fulfilled the residency requirement can live off-campus for the following academic year. Please review the details below regarding your intent for the 2024-2025 academic year and the associated policy regarding changes to intent.

Residency Requirement

As you know, Wake Forest University views living on campus as integral to the liberal arts education and the Wake Forest experience. In support of that view, the University has a six-semester residency requirement.

Those with (or expected to have) 6+ housing credits (typically seniors), will be asked to express their intent to live on or off campus for the 2024-2025 academic year. Your intent to live on or off campus must be confirmed and submitted via the Housing Portal by February 12. The 2024-2025 Housing Application (and ability to express intent) is now available via the Housing Portal

Students who have fulfilled the residency requirement but do not express an interest to live on campus by the February 12 deadline, will be assigned an off-campus application.

It’s important to note that if you leave the University before February 22, 2024, you will not receive credit for this semester and thus may still be required to live on-campus for the 2024-25 academic year.

Living On-Campus

  • Students who have fulfilled the residency requirement wishing to live on-campus MUST declare their intention by February 12, 2024.
  • Students who have declared their intent for on-campus housing should be mindful of the following cancellation schedule:
  • Prior to February 21, 2024, Students who have fulfilled the residency requirement may cancel their on-campus housing application and change their intent to off-campus with no penalty. To change your intent, please submit a written request to housing@wfu.edu.
  • After February 21, 2024, Students who have fulfilled the residency requirement and want to cancel their on-campus housing application and change their intent to off-campus will be charged a $250.00 cancellation fee.

Once a student selects on-campus housing, their housing agreement cannot be canceled. The housing agreement is a legally binding contract once a student signs it (in the same way a lease would be off-campus). Students may not cancel their on-campus housing selection once they select a room.

Living Off-Campus

  • Students living off-campus MUST register their address with the University and complete the off-campus orientation course.
  • Those hoping to live in single-family homes should ensure their property is registered at offcampushousing.wfu.edu PRIOR to signing a lease. Properties not listed must be registered by the property owner and approved by RL&H before students can live at that address.
