LWR MATCHING CHALLENGE

An Immanuel member will match all Lutheran World Relief (LWR) donations in October up to $5,000!

LWR SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16
Michael Johnson of LWR will be joining us during both worship services to share about his work with Lutheran World Relief. In particular he will be sharing about the "Ripple Effect" and how the conflict in Ukraine has affected the most vulnerable all over the globe, especially those LWR works with in Tanzania. We will be looking at the ELCA Social Statement on “Church and Society.” For future meetings we will be reading full books, but to start out we will look at this Social Statement of the ELCA and discuss how it impacts the way we engage with our future readings and the world around us. We will primarily be focusing on “Church and Society” but if you are interested in reading the other statements you can find them here.

There is no charge for the tour but proof of vaccinations and boosters is required. Space is limited to a maximum space of 12 people on the tour, so sign up early. A waitlist will be created if needed! Prior to the tour we will go to lunch at a location still to be determined. Trunk or Treat is a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween, where Immanuel members, their friends, and community members park their cars together and open their trunks to reveal Halloween-themed decorations.

We need Immanuel members of all ages to provide a trunk to welcome hundreds of people from our community! Please join us!

Immanuel is a member of the Southwest Grief Coalition which provides an opportunity for those who are grieving to get information, support, and have a welcoming community as they work through the loss of a loved one. PROP is expecting a high number of families coming to pick up coats so we're in need of a a few more dozen cookies (to be dropped in the church kitchen on Oct. 5 or 6)!

We need volunteers to help on the construction team, bring lunch, and take photos. No experience required.  Minimum age 16 for construction volunteers. You can help make a positive impact for hard working families in need.

Donations of diapers, baby wipes and sanitary pads are needed - these items are in high demand for families accessing food shelves. Online signup to donate or deliver diapers.
ANNA'S CRAFT SALE
Returns Sunday, Nov. 6, 8 a.m. - Noon
Inspired by Anna, a youth leader at Immanuel, this annual craft sale has donated funds for those who suffer from housing insecurity. This year a NEW recipient of the funds has been named! All proceeds will benefit our partner ministry at Redeemer Center for Life in North Minneapolis. CRAFTERS ARE NEEDED!
Craft items can be dropped in Savannah's office through Nov. 4.

A PRAIRIE HOMELESS COMPANION
Friday, October 14, 7 p.m.

A unique theater performance by zAmya Theater Group - consisting of actors who have experienced homelessness - that creatively and engagingly shares real stories of homelessness beyond the stereotypes. Performance will be followed by a dialogue between performers, Beacon staff, and local Beacon partners that provides information about housing insecurity in the greater metro area, Beacon’s approach, and invites engagement with Beacon’s developments and campaigns. Come learn more about how housing issues impact people in your community and how you can make a difference!
