The Precinct Convention is the first step in the political convention process!
Attending a Republican convention is an integral part of the grassroots process, allowing you to contribute to the selection of Republican Party of Texas leadership and influence the party's rules, platform and legislative priorities. The initial step in this journey is participating in your Precinct Convention. Each county determines when and where to host a convention, but it must be AFTER the polls close on March 5th.
The purpose of the precinct convention is to:
- Elect Delegates and Alternates to the SD/County Convention
- Vote on resolutions to be considered by the SD/County conventions
Who can participate in a Precinct Convention:
- Anyone who voted in the Republican Primary
- Individuals who sign an Oath of Affiliation with the Republican Party
Are you passionate about electing principled conservatives? Do you feel called to advocate for specific policies? Would you like to be a delegate or alternate to the State RPT Convention or National RNC convention? Or perhaps you are interested in the governance of the Republican party? Any and all of these are excellent reasons for you to attend your Precinct Convention. As they say, you can't complain if you don't vote and Precinct Conventions are the first step in the process!
To locate the details of your Precinct Convention, reach out to your county party or contact your county chair for information on timing and location.
If you are new to conventions, there are lots of resources available to take the mystery out of the process and have you participating like a pro. For more detailed information on the process or to access the required forms click here!
