Refugee Response Ministry Summer Update

Thank you to those who volunteered to drive the Afghan students to day camp next week. The gift of your time is appreciated! The children will thrive in these special activities.

We look forward to offering additional short term volunteer opportunities in the future. All of us working together create a fertile ground to Live God's Love. Find out more about the Refugee Response Ministry and how to get involved here.
Justice Arts Coalition Exhibit
When: Tuesday, August 9th from 7-9pm

Please join the Justice Arts Coalition (JAC) at St. Columba's on Tuesday, August 9, from 7-9 pm, at an exhibit of art created by incarcerated artists. Participants can share feedback and encouragement with the artists through hand-written letters, which JAC will send to the artists. Please visit our website for more information and register here.
Thank you to our lay readers!

Thank you to all who answered the call and signed up to be a lay reader! All our slots are full through September 4th. Be on the lookout for ways to sign up to be a reader in the Fall later this summer.
Become a Columba Crew leader!

Planning is well underway for next year! Starting this Sunday, there will be a board in the Common and at Wee Worship so you can sign up to be a leader in a Columba Crew class next year!

  • What is Columba Crew? Our Sunday morning program (because no one wants to go to school on Sunday!) for kids to wonder and explore God, Bible stories, love, service and everything that makes us Christians. Kids will meet in 3 classes: 3s and 4s; K and 1st; and 2nd and 3rd.
  • What do leaders do? Work in teams of four adults to share the lesson with a class of kids. Leaders sign up for a slot in one class for a 6-8 week unit (approximately September - October or November - December).
  • Do I have to be a Biblical scholar to be a leader? No! That's why you'll be a leader and not a teacher. You'll have a chance to wonder and learn even as you share a lesson from a detailed plan.
  • How will I know what to do? Leaders will meet before each unit for a luncheon/training to get to know their team and learn about the lessons that will be covered and how to work with kids in our setting.
  • How do we keep our St. C's kids safe? All leaders must complete a leader information form (new) and Safeguarding God's Children - child abuse prevention training online.
If you won't be at church and want to sign up or if you have any questions, you can reach Katie here.
Want to sing this summer?

Summer Singers is a pick-up choir that forms each Sunday during the summer to learn and sing special music for that morning’s worship. The group gathers in the music room at 9:45 am for a quick warm-up, and then prepares an offertory anthem to share at the 10:30 am nave service. Singers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join the Summer Singers each Sunday continuing through the first week in September, or on any Sunday you are available!

Questions? Contact Anne Timpane.
Summer Concert Series: King Street Bluegrass rescheduled

Due to excessive heat, last Sunday’s scheduled bluegrass concert has been postponed to Sunday, August 21st - join us then!
