If you find yourself struggling throughout your weekly schedule, there are services and networks on campus to provide you with support. From financial assistance, to counseling, to making sure your essays are perfect; you can find anything you need right here on campus for assistance both in and out of the classroom!

It's Time to Innovate! 

Explore your creative side with the brand new makerspaces at The Student Innovation Center!


There is now eight fully operating spaces open for use. They offer many different pieces of equipment to get to experience! Including:



Makerspaces are free to use for class and personal projects and are equipped with staff members to help you along the way. Use your imagination and innovate your ideas at Iowa State's Makerspaces!

  • The Cyclone Family Weekend 2022: Create new experiences on campus and spend quality time with family! On Oct. 14th-16th, expect anything from fun activities, food and entertainment.


  • Hispanic/Latino/a/e Heritage Month Craft: Pay to learn more and create an Alebrije sculpture from Oct. 1st to 15th. The Workspace in the Memorial Union offers walk-in crafts.


  • Go See The Rise of Gru! This weekend, enjoy a free movie at the Cyclone Cinema at Carver 101 at 7 p.m.


  • Get Crafty! Create your own Rainbow Confetti Tray to celebrate National Coming Out Day from Oct. 10th to 15th. The Workspace in the Memorial Union offers walk-in crafts.


  • Moonshot Science for Climate Change: The 2022 Annual Norman Borlaug Lecture is coming up on Oct. 17th at the Memorial Union. Speaker Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig, a 2022 World Food Prize Laureate, will highlight factors on food system emissions.


  • Cy's Birthday Party! Come and celebrate everyone's favorite mascot, Cy! Sixty-eight years of Cy will be celebrated with cookies, a popcorn bar, Cy trivia - and a special appearance by none other than, Cy! Stop in anytime between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.


  • Green Dot Games: Get involved by learning ways to address violence on campus and in our community. On Oct. 20th, from noon to 2 p.m. on the Northeast Campanile Lawn, there will be snacks, games and music.


  • We Rate Dogs®: if you are interested in entrepreneurship, philanthropy and social media fame, Matt Nelson has you covered through his non-profit business journey. It's on Oct. 20th in the Sun Room at 6 p.m.!


  • Go See Top Gun: Maverick! On Oct. 20th - 23rd, enjoy a free movie at the Cyclone Cinema at Carver 101 at 7 p.m.


  • Homecoming Week! Stay pumped for a full week of events from Oct. 30th to Nov. 5th. It will be anything from food on campus, athlete games, tournaments, ISU football vs. West Virginia and more!

Student Run Spaces!


Innovate 1858 is a student-run shop featuring our exclusive Tartan products and products made by Iowa State students and alums. Be sure to check out the store on the first floor of the Student Innovation Center.


Sparks Cafe is on the top floor of the Student Innovation Center and is a completely student-run cafe. Offering a variety of fresh foods, meals and a full-line of specialty drinks, stop by - it's one of the best study spots on campus!


The Creamery is another campus location where students have a role in the creation and sales of ice cream, frozen treats and cheeses. Be sure to try Human Sci Sweet Cherry Pie! Or, check out the Slizewski Swirl, created by a student in food science.
