There has long been a well established link between suicide and psychological trauma/early childhood trauma. Being alert to the possibility of suicide while building relationships based on trust, safety, and compassion have been identified as the cornerstones of suicide prevention.
In this workshop participants will learn:
• The elements of trauma
• The effects of trauma
• The connection between trauma and suicide
• How to be alert to the possibility of suicidal thinking
• How to respond
• Tools for helping
• Helpful community resources
• How to utilize the 24 hour crisis lines as a community partner/source of support
