In this session, we will identify and discuss how to identify a toxic client relationship and how to safely end it. This panel will discuss understanding the toxic situation by identifying the toxic environment and the impact this has on the advocate and organization. By the end of this webinar, participants will learn how to: 


  1. Identify a toxic client relationship and discuss how the toxic situation affected relationships and morale.
  2. Explain the consequences of productivity, mental health and organizational culture.
  3. Describe any methods, forums or meetings used to create open communication.
  4. Discuss termination methods.
  5. Discuss the importance of taking time out to reflect and analyze where the break in communication happened.
  6. Emphasize the importance of ongoing communication, support and monitoring.
  7. Share best practices and tips to implement for preventing toxic situations in the future.

In this session, speaker Dr. Melissa Hakim will discuss how to prepare a client for a healthcare provider visit and assist in patient comprehension.

After this webinar attendees will be able to:


  1. Recall strategies to prepare for a healthcare provider’s visit
  2. Identify and define patient goals for the medical visit
  3. Compose a list of questions for each medical visit
  4. Create a record of important issues discussed
  5. Explain how to use the “teach back” method to assess patient’s comprehension of complex medical information
