Dear Families of the MS 104 Community:

Happy Friday! I hope everyone's week has gone well. The first week of the new year is off to a great start, with our winter sports teams kicking off their seasons. In addition to our sports teams, our Debate and Math teams are also participating in competitions as well. I am so glad that we are able to provide such diverse offerings to our students. I look forward to all of our teams' representing our school through the season.

Please see below for some updates and announcements.

Wishing everyone a great weekend! Stay warm!

Sincerely,

Rocco Macri, Principal

Eighth Grade Make Up Picture Day is Monday!

We will be holding our make up picture day for eighth graders this coming Monday, January 5th. Any student that was absent on the day of the original picture day, as well as any student that was not satisfied with their original picture, may take pictures on Monday. As a reminder, eighth grade students will be photographed with their cap and gown.

Students do not have to bring any forms or any payment to take pictures. Families will be notified when pictures are available to be purchased online.

Reminder on Cell Phone Policy

As communicated at the beginning of the year, all students are expected to lock their phones in their Yondr pouch EVERY day during school hours as per our school's cell phone policy. Over the last few weeks, our staff has noticed an increase in the amount of students not locking their phones in a Yondr pouch. We would greatly appreciate you reviewing the cell phone policy with your child and ensuring that they have their pouch with them every day.

If your child's pouch has been lost or damaged, please contact the grade level AP for further assistance.

Please be reminded that repeated violations of the cell phone policy will result in a parent needing to come in to pick up their child's phone.

We thank you for your partnership and support regarding the cell phone policy.

Academic Screener Results Available in NYCSA Beginning January 16

The DOE announced this week that beginning Tuesday, January 16th, families will be able to access their child's academic screener results in their New York City Schools Account (NYCSA). This can be done by clicking on the new Reading and Math progress tile that will be active beginning January 16th.

Our school's academic screeners are the I-Ready assessments that students take three times per school year. The results of these assessments will be available in NYCSA on the following dates:

Beginning of the year screener data- January 16th.

Mid year screener data March 15th.

End of the year screener data June 15th.

We will also send home results reports with students as soon as possible. The school will notify families when these are sent home with students.
