Kane ROE Making Sure All Kane Co. Students

Have School Supplies the Entire Year

Kane County Regional Superintendent,

Patricia Dal Santo, shows some of the new school supplies that ROE has on-hand to help Kane Co. students have a successful school experience.

New school supplies are not just a highlight of the start of the new school year; it is something that is needed throughout the entire year. The Kane County Regional Office of Education (ROE) recently assembled over 30 backpacks that have new school supplies for needy students who are on caseload in the ROE Youth Outreach Program, which includes homeless, truancy, alternative programs, and the Juvenile Detention Center.

Students will receive the backpacks, with supplies, directly from ROE staff members. Distribution of the backpacks are ongoing throughout the year to students in-need. Funding for the bags and supplies came from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). According to Department of Education’s website - Funds are provided to state education agencies (SEAs) and local education agencies (LEAs) to help safely sustain the same operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Nation’s students [which includes making sure all students the necessary have school supplies.]

Patricia Dal Santo, ROE Regional Superintendent shared “In some instances, students may have supplies in their school building but not in their home.  These supplies may be instrumental in completing required homework for classes. The ROE is here to make sure all Kane County students have the proper materials they need to have a successful educational experience.”
