Over the weekend we moved back into our house, and in celebratory fashion, our brand new dryer was acting up! We washed a load of old towels and then threw it in the dryer, after about three minutes, steam started billowing out of the dryer and condensation started accumulating on top and sides of the washer and dryer. Being that the machines were brand new, we knew there was a pretty good chance that the issue was a clogged exhaust duct, and not the machines themselves. To check this, we disconnected the dryer from the duct and put my leaf blower right up to duct opening in the laundry room and let it rip! Much to my chagrin, we could barely feel any air coming out of the duct on the outside of our house, which told us that the issue had to be stuck somewhere in our ducting. I then had to crawl under our house and take a guess at which pieces of ducting to un-tape and take apart, and luckily for me I guessed correctly! After separating the two ducts from one another, I stuck my arm in there and grabbed out as much lint as I could, the lint was fairly damp and was clinging to the walls of the ducts, which is why it had such a hard time moving through he ducts. Once I cleared out all of the debris that I could reach, I had my dad put the leaf blower back in place, and give it another go. The video below shows what happened next! |
