New Book Walking Together The Future of Indigenous Child Welfare on the Prairies Prairie Child Welfare Consortium (University of Calgary, First Nations University of Canada, University of Manitoba and University of Regina) with Dr. Jason Albert (FNUC) as lead author. Walking Together is the seventh title in the Voices of the Prairies series. Developed by the Prairie Child Welfare Consortium, this edited collection brings together accomplished Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars from the prairie provinces to forward critical research about a range of contemporary child welfare issues currently impacting Indigenous children in Canada.

Every month ALIGN Association publishes CONNECTIONS, a digital newsletter for kinship and foster caregivers who have Indigenous children in their care in an effort to support them ensuring the children have access to cultural resources and activities. In our September 20th edition, we would like to include Alberta events related to National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, as well as any cultural programs your agency will be running this fall. PETITION IN SUPPORT OF ALBERTA DISABILITY WORKERS

Alberta Disability Awareness In Action started this petition to Honourable Jason Luan Alberta’s Community Disability Services are in a staffing crisis.

Workers paid to support people with disabilities have not seen a wage increase since 2014 (despite an increase in the cost of living of 14% over the past eight years). They are feeling stressed and undervalued and many are choosing to leave their jobs for other employment where they will be properly compensated for their skills and valuable contributions. The low wages and retention rates are of serious concern to community-based employers who are struggling to recruit and retain qualified staff to provide essential services to Albertans with disabilities... LEARN MORE & SIGN THE PETITION
