A Message From Our Principal

Dear Tolt Families,

It’s been great to see our students and staff settling into the 2nd semester of school! This afternoon, all students received their 2nd quarter report card to bring home. Students who achieved a GPA of 3.50 or above also received an Honor Roll certificate. Well done Tolt Bears!

In order to increase community and connections for students at school, we are in conversations around adding an Advisory period next year. We have a team of staff members doing research and considering different options for our school.

As part of our mission of valuing student voice, earlier this year we asked students for feedback about our school. A few themes came up, and our Inclusion Advisory Team (students, staff, and parents) has been discussing those topics. The first of four “Café Conversations” during lunches was held this week, where we discussed supervision. It is important to our school community to hear from and be responsive to what our students are saying.

We are excited to welcome parents of Riverview 5th graders at our 5th Grade Parent Night on Thursday, March 2 at 6pm in the Tolt gym. Our 6th grade team looks forward to providing more information to the families of future Tolt Bears!

I hope you have a wonderful four-day President’s Day weekend!

Go Bears!

Amie Karkainen, Principal

Nurse's Corner

ALERT! We are seeing a significant spike in diarrhea/vomiting at school. It is extremely important to wash hands after using the bathroom, before/after eating, do not share food, utensils, water bottles, etc. If your student has diarrhea/vomiting they need to stay home until no vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours. If your child is vomiting/having diarrhea for more than 48-72 hours and is experiencing symptoms of dehydration they need to be seen in urgent care as soon as possible. Fluids (i.e. broth, Pedialyte, ginger ale) and foods (broth/soup, mashed potatoes, dry toast, etc.) that are easy on the stomach are best. Clean surfaces with a 1% bleach solution or vinegar/lemon/baking soda to disinfect.
