Connecting Our Community with Christ

1983-2023

For 40 years we have stood

as a mighty tree in our community:

Strong and rooted,

Soaring and reaching,

Vibrant and fruitful,

Sheltering and comforting.

In worship this Sunday,

February 19, 2023

Preacher: Rev. Jeff Day

Liturgist: Jack Bagent

Usher: Connie Buck

Flowers this Sunday are dedicated

to the glory of God by Carol Behrmann.

If you would like to participate with Highland Presbyterian Church remotely, we will stream this Sunday's service (9:30 a.m.) on our facebook page,

Turkey - Syrian Earthquake, what can you do to help?

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is providing emergency relief and short- term recovery in the earthquake impacted areas through long-standing partners in Syria, in addition to ACT Alliance members in Syria and Turkey, all of whom are already on the ground. PDA will remain active throughout the entire recovery process, accompanying our partners in the area as they determine long-term program needs and providing financial support for building and resilience.

2023 Lent Devotions

This year the season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22, and continues through Easter, April 9, 2023. Highland will be offering The Presbyterian Outlook's "Examen: Inward work for outward living" as a resource during this contemplative time. You may pick up a printed copy at Sunday Worship beginning February 19 or request a copy be mailed to you by contacting Louise Dye. The devotions will also be available electronically each week through this newsletter.

In Examen: Inward work for outward living, Teri McDowell Ott explores the ancient spiritual practice of examen that focuses on honest assessment and reflection. With a different theme for each week of Lent, readers are invited to explore the connection between internal contemplation and outward action. Themes include examining our fear to live with faith, examining our pain to live with healing, examining our dishonesty to live with truth, examining our joy to live with gratitude, examining our love to live with heart and examining our burdens to live with blessing.

Congregational Meeting,

Report to the Congregation,

Sunday, February 19, 2023

The By-laws of Highland Presbyterian Church call for us to schedule a Congregational Meeting in February of each year to give any and all members an opportunity to address the Congregation. We have not done this in a while, but will correct that on February 19 of this year. We will also have an annual report to the Congregation. If you have any business you would like brought before the Congregation, please notify Clerk of Session Louise Dye no later than February 12.
