Blue Whale Migration

The annual "Giant Blue Whale Migration" is a sight to see this time of year! Hundreds of giant blue, finback, humpback, and minke whales migrate through these waters every year. Giant pods of common and bottlenose dolphins are also frequently spotted. Newport Bay is one of the largest marine protected areas in southern California. It was created to protect the rich ecosystem for generations to come. See these majestic giants daily on one of Newport Landing's whale-watching cruises.

Coastal Cleanup Day

Every September thousands gather for Coastal Cleanup Day. People from all over Orange County come to volunteer at Upper Newport Bay. The goal this year is to remove over 10,000 pounds of trash. The trash picked up harms wildlife, pollutes our waterways, and threatens public health. Your time and help are very important and benefits the earth greatly.
