Dear Parents,

Thank you for attending our first Home and School Meeting of the school year. It was great to have new faces, new ideas and input. Thank you for taking time out of your schedules to make this a wonderful first meeting with great input.

Topics of discussion included the upcoming Luige’s pizza sale, a possible Santa Breakfast in December, Calendar of Cash, Cabin Fever, and a spring pizza sale. Brochures for the upcoming pizza sale will be coming home soon. All parents are encouraged to sell $200.00 worth of products to help us meet our goals. We will need help sorting the pizzas on Saturday, November 11th to help save money on the cost of individual pizzas.  Watch for details and please plan to donate one hour of your time.

Should we bring back pizza making for the spring sale? (It takes 75 - 100 volunteers to make this possible) - what do you think?

The Calendar of Cash raffle will be coming soon. There is a drawing every school day starting January 2, 2024. Tickets are $25.00 each or 5 for $100.00. These make great Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers. Each family is expected to sell or purchase 12 tickets. Watch for more details.

We are considering hosting a Santa Breakfast in December. Hosting an event where families and children can come together for food and fellowship might be a really great way to celebrate the Christmas season. What do you think?

Our Small Business Saturday Homemade Market was so well attended last year that we will be doing it again this year. It is on Saturday, November 25th. Do you have a specialty making crafts or any homemade items? This is your chance to sell your treasures. Sign-up details will be out soon.

NEWS FLASH!!!!! We are very close to hitting our goal for our building project. We need just under $200,000 to start our project. Please keep this project in your prayers. Nothing is impossible if we believe!

Have a great weekend!

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CERTIFICATION

All parents, volunteers and chaperones must take the Safe Environment Certification prior to any field trips or events involving children.

There is a class being held here at St. Matthew's in the cafeteria on

October 12 from 6-9pm. You must be registered to attend.

Instructions can be found here.

Every priest, deacon, parish or school staff member, teacher and lay minister that is employed by a parish or school and any volunteer working with minors in our archdiocese is required to meet three requirements:

  1. Attend a Safe Environment Education Session. This is a child abuse and maltreatment prevention program that must be attended in person. The current curriculum taught in this session utilizes the Safe Haven series from Catholic Mutual Group.
  2. Pass a Criminal Background Check. This check is done at the start of employment or beginning volunteering with minors and must be done every five (5) years subsequently. The criminal background check is conducted through the CMG Connect portal. The criminal background check reports are reviewed and certified through the collaboration of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment Office and parish/school Safe Environment coordinators.
  3. Sign the Code of Ethical Standards. This code of conduct provides clergy, volunteers, and employees with expectations and guidelines for how they interact with and conduct themselves in ministry. This code must be signed prior to beginning volunteering or working in a parish or school and is reviewed every five (5) years subsequently.
