Public Meeting on Act 250 Legislative Study

The Natural Resources Board will host an online public meeting to present its draft legislative report “Necessary Updates to the Act 250 Program.”

Central Vermont Youth Opportunity Initiative Regional Forum

After the Flood - Stories of Resilience by Sarah Noyes

Sea Grant Lake Champlain has begn publishing a newsletter series, sharing stories of post-flood learning and resilience. In doing they aim to inspire hope and action for a flood-resilient future.

In this series is Northfield's Dog River Park, a project CVRPC and many others assisted the Town with to help mitigate future flood damages in the Water Street area. The story outlines the impact of the July 2023 storm and flooding, and advantages of stormwater management. Read about here!


Natural Shoreland Erosion Control Certification (NSECC) Trainings in 2024

The Agency of Natural Resources will be hosting in person and virtual sessions in January. The Certification Course covers shoreland Best Management Practices, including techniques for erosion control, stormwater management, bioengineering and wildlife habitat protection. Lakeshore owners often rely on professional contractors, landscapers, engineers or other site workers to give advice and help them manage their property. The NSECC course teaches contractors both how to use best management practices and the science of how they work to protect the lake while remaining attractive and appealing to homeowners. The Clean and Renewable Electricity Team of the Vermont Public Service Department has developed a monthly update to share what they are working on and how you can be involved in the ongoing review of Vermont's clean and renewable electricity programs and policies. Leahy Institute for Rural Partnership Grants

The Leahy Institute for Rural Partnerships has just launched a Seed Grant program and will be accepting letters of interest for the Winter 2024 cycle through December 18th. Grants will fund project costs associated with engaged partnerships between organizations and the University of Vermont in their priority areas. Learn more >>>


VCRD Accepting Applications for Climate Economy Resilient Communities Program

VCRD’s Resilient Communities Program supports three to five communities each year working on local climate action solutions that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy use, increase climate resilience, and/or strengthen the local climate economy. Services are adaptable based on the community’s needs and can include support with community engagement processes, strategic planning, technical assistance, and/or project implementation. Community leaders and volunteers submit a simple online application that will be reviewed on a rolling basis until January 12th, 2024. Learn more here!
