Dean's Update: Less Is More
I was first inspired by the idea "less is more" as an undergraduate when studying architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's minimalist design philosophy. Recent work around communicating the Libraries' purpose and aligning its budget allocations brings the concept again to the forefront. I wish here to test if my observations can be stated in few words.

Information is increasingly abundant. Given that abundance, narrowing the selection of information resources becomes critical to increasing the convenience and productivity of students, faculty, researchers and administrators. When we can build more with less, ultimately we can give our clients more for less effort.

W.W. Hagerty Library Entrance Updated
Have you noticed that it is quicker and quieter to enter the W. W. Hagerty Library this term? This August, the entrance and adjoining area were updated to respond to the bottleneck in going through the old security gate and the annoying noise it made. This update also refreshed the adjacent front corner as an attractive place to work quietly with natural lighting.

Libraries Participates in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Panel
What do librarians have to do with innovation and entrepreneurship? A lot, it turns out. In September, the Libraries helped sponsor a panel discussion on innovation and entrepreneurship attended by 65 Drexel graduate students. Libraries help people make connections to ideas and to people, and this event offered a space for those connections to be made.

Q&A: Deb Morley, Director, Data & Digital Stewardship
In March this year, the Libraries launched the Data and Digital Stewardship division. This program is unique in that it deals with data and digital assets that have been created right here at Drexel University as output from scholarship and research. I interviewed the director of this new division, Deb Morley, on what this program is all about and how it is taking Drexel University Libraries into the future.
