Hello Nicole,
When we launched the LA Civil Rights Department in 2020, we were intentional about our work to fight for the rights of all Angelenos. When a rise in hate, like anti-AAPI, anti-Black, anti-LGBTQIA+, antisemitism, and hate against others, took ahold of our nation, Team LA Civil Rights tackled the issue head on. With support from City Hall leaders, we launched the most ambitious, city-wide campaign to address hate and discrimination - LA for All!
LA for All became more than a campaign, it became a movement. Since it's launch, we produced LA Is For Everyone posters in 21 languages, shown up in more than 5,000 ad spaces, including on LA Metro trains and buses, and created almost 50 events and solidarity opportunities. In 2022, we won an American Advertising Award for this campaign. This year, we're building on our success and finding ways to ensure that all communities know that LA Civil Rights is here to for them. I'm so proud of our team and the work we do every day to show love and build an LA that is truly for everyone.
Next week, we're celebrating this work with our annual LA for All Week! From September 25-30, we're making sure EVERYONE knows that we are supporting communities by fighting for a just and equitable city. Join us as LA City Council declares "LA for All Week," celebrate with us as we recognize World Peace Day, look to the sky as we light up iconic LA locations with Mayor Bass, or volunteer at our Tom LaBonge Day of Service. There are so many opportunities for you to get involved! Check out the information below for details on all our festivities! We look forward to you helping us represent. Together, we will build and showcase the best of Los Angeles!
Keep the faith and keep the fight,
- Capri Maddox
