Recapturing the Spark: Summer Camp Recap

A Message from the Camp Director:

"We are so inspired by our Start the Spark delegates, who spent four days sharpening their leadership skills, building bonds of friendship, and igniting a flame of hope within themselves that will undoubtedly spread across their communities. We hope you hold tight to the revelations and friendships you gained from camp, and that we see you next year as a Track 2 delegate or staff member!" - Marissa Wong

Parents Camp

A special one-day parent mini-camp was held at UCSB on August 3. The program provided an opportunity for parents to become familiar with some of the curriculum and activities that their student experienced at camp. It was also a great way to meet other parents and CASC staff.

The Next Generation of CASC Counselors:

Last Chance SDP

Last Chance SDP took place from August 6 to August 8.

Delegates who enjoyed their experience at CASC camp attended Last Chance to become a CASC Counselor and to take their skills to the next level. Last Chance is a great opportunity to learn leadership, facilitative and presentation skills that are applicable throughout your life. They also have the opportunity to connect and work with current and future world leaders!

CASC Worldwide: Armenian Training Recap

In July, CASC staff traveled toYerevan, Armenia to lead a training for 18 educators on empowering student councils in Armenia. The program was developed in partnership with the Jinishian Memorial Foundation, an NGO that identified developing strong and effective student councils as a top priority in the education system.

Trainers from CASC and our Russia-based sister organization AYL equipped the participants with skills that they will use to effect rippling change across the country's education system. Participants reported that the program improved their leadership skills and increased their motivation to work with student councils. CASC is proud to continue our legacy of developing transnational bonds of friendship to empower youth around the world!

Fighting Race-Based Bullying: Right Our Story Partnership

We're excited to share that CASC has entered into a collaboration with Right Our Story, a youth-led campaign fighting against race-based bullying. CASC, committed to empowering student leaders, recognizes the urgent need to address the damaging effects of bullying on mental health, especially in communities of color.

The Right Our Story campaign offers a safe, digital space for individuals to share their experiences with bullying, regardless of whether they were the victim, the perpetrator, or a witness.

This partnership aligns with the goals of the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC), which was established by Proposition 63 to drive transformational change in California's mental health system.
