Together We Can Make Palmetto Bay An Even Better Place To Live, Work, Learn And Play!

Happy Labor Day, Palmetto Bay!

Hope you are enjoying a long weekend of great weather! Last week, I attended the Board of County Commission Meeting to hear the RTZ item. Unfortunately, since the item was on second reading, there was no opportunity to be heard for item 7C. Click here for the letter that I distributed to the Mayor and Commission regarding our opposition and request for a carve out from the ordinance and here to listen to what happened.

Following a series of workshops, a community survey and a Council visioning session, Palmetto Bay is rolling out its Proposed Operating and Capital Budget for fiscal year 2023. Because of some difficult decisions we had to make last year, the Manager has done a remarkable job of getting our financial house in order. Over our recess, I met with the Manager to discuss our finances and the upcoming budget. I asked him to consider bringing a budget at a lower millage rate then the maximum of 2.4. Click here to review the budget that will be presented on September 12th. It provides for the things you said were most important (Public safety, sidewalks, street paving and park maintenance) while lowering our millage rate to 2.35. Click for a quick recap of the budget highlights that include:
