2022 Fall Fishing Derbies & Recruitment

Again this year, we are encouraging kids to get "Hooked On Scouting" by signing up for Scouts, getting a new fishing pole, and attending a fishing derby near you! Fishing derbies are being put on by units and districts to fulfill the promise we give to students that we will get to be active Scouts! To view a list of confirmed derbies, go to www.nlcbsa.org/fishing!

Nominations Open for the Andrew P. Nelson Award for Outstanding Leadership & Service

SSG Andrew Nelson was an Eagle Scout from Troop 644 in Moorhead. He was a remarkable young man who exemplified the Scout Oath and the Scout Law and dedicated his life to serving others. Unfortunately, Andrew died August 29, 2007 in Iraq while serving his fourth Tour of Duty with the 82nd Airborne Division. SSG Andrew Nelson lived his life unselfishly in service to others. We wish to honor his memory and recognize others in our community who exhibit the same kind of servant leadership as they work daily to make our community better.

Please take a moment and nominate a member of your organization that you think would be a good candidate to be considered for this recognition. They do not have to be a member of your leadership team nor do they need to be affiliated with Scouting.

Qualifications:

1) Be a great employee

2) A member or veteran of the armed forces

3) Someone who volunteers in the community

If selected, we will recognize them at the Heroes and Leaders Gala on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the Avalon Events Center in Fargo.

Please join us as we present the SSG Andrew P. Nelson Awards for Outstanding Leadership and Service to everyday heroes who quietly make a difference in our community in the way they work, volunteer, and make life better for others. You can nominate one or more of your employees or friends, or sponsor a table at the event. Proceeds from the event will benefit local Scouting programs.

The button below will bring you to the event page, which includes a sponsorship form, nomination form, and more!
