From the Counseling Office
Counseling meetings in September
In the month of September, all students will be asked to sign up for a 10-minute meeting with their school counselor. The counselors want to get to know each student and make sure their year is off to a good start! Students can sign up for their meeting on our School Counseling canvas page. Please remind your child to choose a time when it's convenient with their schedule. Thanks!

Early in September, the school counseling team visited Freshman classes to:
  • Introduce the School Counselors
  • Explain How grades work in high school
  • Teach them how to access to SCOIR, our comprehensive college and career counseling tool
  • Show them tools available on our School Counseling Canvas Page

Questions? Contact Monica Helfrich at mhelfrich@bishopchatard.org.
Coffee with the Counselors wrap-up
There was a wonderful Coffee with the Counselors event on August 25. You can view the August 2022 Coffee with the Counselors slides to learn more about academic success, diploma types, graduation pathways, and post-secondary planning. The next event will be on December 6!
SAT testing day for Seniors on October 12
The Bishop Chatard Class of 2023 will have an additional opportunity to take the SAT at BCHS on the day juniors are taking the PSAT (Oct. 12). This gives a chance for current seniors to boost their score.

Seniors should still complete college applications prior to November 1 using March scores. There is a $60 fee unless students qualify for an SAT waiver from Free/Reduced Lunch Status. If students choose not to take the SAT, they can use the day to make a college visit.

Diploma and Graduation reminders
As a reminder, you can view the BCHS diploma requirements at www.bishopchatard.org/academics/diploma-requirements/ and graduation pathways for the state of Indiana at www.in.gov/doe/students/graduation-pathways/.

Join the Music Booster Club!
Are you the parent of a BCHS musician seeking to connect with other ‘musical’ parents, to learn what’s happening, and support the Music Program? We invite you to the Music Booster Club!

  • Read the Fall Newsletter, for complete information
  • Performance Recording: We are looking for a volunteer to record our concerts or other events to share with out-of-town guests on social media avenues. Please contact Judy Lam at JKingLam@gmail.com or 317-985-4427 if you are interested or have any ideas/knowledge to share.

Be sure to include your child’s t-shirt size for a music shirt which they can grow into (and thus wear for several years). If you have multiple students in the program, please submit the form separately for each student.
